They hold the domain name until you make the final monthly payment. At that time it transfers to your account and you own it.
But the best part starts today. You can use the name, point it at your host or server, and launch your website — your visitors will never know.

Who is Spaceship?
Spaceship is an ICANN-accredited domain registrar — accreditation number 3862, listed on IANA's public register of registrars, which anyone can check.
It was launched in 2023 by Namecheap, which has been registering domain names since 2000 and serves millions of customers worldwide. Same founder, same offices, newer platform. If the name is unfamiliar, the company behind it probably is not.
The accreditation is the part that matters here. It is why Spaceship, rather than the seller, holds RentWithOption.com during the payment plan. A registrar answers to ICANN for how it handles names, so this is not a matter of taking a stranger's word — and once your plan starts, the seller cannot pull the name out of the deal or sell it to someone else.

- Using it while you pay
- You control where the name points for the whole of the payment plan. Put it on your site, run email from it, launch on it — it works exactly as it will once it is paid off. The only difference is who it is registered to.
- Paying early
- Clearing the balance early is handled through Spaceship and there is no penalty for it.
- If the payments stop
- The plan ends and the name goes back to the seller. Payments already made are NOT REFUNDED. If a due date is awkward, say so before it passes — it is far easier to move a date than to restart a plan.
- When it is yours
- On the final payment the name is transferred into your own Spaceship account. From there you can move it to any registrar you like.
